Next Date: Thursday 22nd October - 6:30pm-8:00pm EDT (New York City)

A bank uses AI to speed up small business loan decisions. Approvals go from days to minutes, and the project counts as a success. Six months later, complaints go up, relationship managers start working around the system, and a group of applicants keeps getting declined without anyone noticing a pattern. Every part of that story comes from how people, technology and processes connect.

Systems thinking helps you see those connections before you commit to a solution.

This is an interactive, in-person workshop (held in New York City) run by Experience Haus where we'll explore the systems thinking approach and why it matters more as AI becomes part of everyday financial services work. You'll work through a live scenario together, mapping its stakeholders, relationships and behaviours and hunting for the unintended consequences.

Who's this for?

Finance professionals in banking, asset management, insurance, fintech and professional services, whether you're an analyst, team lead or senior leader. It suits anyone involved in changing a process, product or service, especially where AI is part of the plan. You don't need any design or systems background.

How long is it?

90 minutes, in person in New York, starting at 6:30pm on Thursday 22 October. Most of the time is spent working hands-on in small groups.

Why attend?

Finance runs on connected systems, and AI adds more connections every quarter. This session gives you a structured way to look beyond the immediate problem, spot risks before they turn into incidents, and design with the full set of people affected in mind.

Experience Haus has worked with leading organisations to rethink their services and AI workflows.

EXPLORE THIS COURSE

01

Think in systems.

We cover the basic ideas you need: stakeholders, relationships, feedback loops and behaviours over time. You’ll see why a fix that looks right at one point in a process can make things worse elsewhere, with examples from financial services and AI adoption.

02

Map a real scenario together.

In mixed groups, you’ll take on a live challenge where an AI-enabled change is being introduced. You’ll work out who it touches, how those people and teams depend on each other, how their behaviour might change, and where unintended consequences are likely to show up.

03

See what different perspectives reveal.

Groups share their maps and compare what each group noticed and what it missed. That comparison is the point of the evening. It shows why representation matters in shaping solutions, and you’ll leave with a clear first step for using systems thinking with your own team.

Leave this session with clarity on how your decisions ripple through the system.

Why this session, why now. Financial institutions are putting AI into lending, onboarding, fraud, advice and operations. Each change reaches customers, colleagues, regulators and partners in ways that are hard to predict from inside a single team. Systems thinking gives you a way to anticipate those effects early.

Who should attend? Finance professionals at any level who shape or influence change, from people running processes day to day to leaders signing off on transformation. We want a mix of roles, backgrounds and experience in the room, because the exercise works better that way.

What this session actually is. A hands-on, 90-minute workshop in New York. You’ll spend most of it working through a live service scenario with a small group, with Experience Haus facilitators guiding each stage.

How the session runs. A short introduction to systems thinking. A scenario briefing. Two rounds of group mapping, first stakeholders and relationships, then behaviours and unintended consequences. It finishes with a whole-room share-back comparing what each group found.

How we’ll help you choose. Facilitators work with each group as they map, pushing on assumptions and pointing to connections that are easy to miss. You’ll take home the mapping method and the questions we use, ready to try on a real project.

Time commitment. 90 minutes on the evening of Thursday 22 October, from 6:30pm EDT (New York City time). No preparation needed.
