Product Roadmapping and Design Thinking for DTCC’s Wealth Management Team
Experience Haus worked with the Wealth Management Services team in New York to design, build and deliver two connected four-day programmes — Roadmap Enablement followed by Design Thinking, Innovation and Service Design — equipping product teams with the frameworks to move from insight to strategy to scalable service delivery.
THE TASK
DTCC’s Wealth Management Services team — covering Fund Solutions, Insurance & Retirement Solutions, and Private Market Solutions — sought to strengthen how product teams plan, prioritise and design across a highly integrated environment. With multiple business lines, deep stakeholder networks and a need to keep client experience aligned with operational reality, the team wanted a common language and toolkit for building roadmaps, framing problems before solutioning, and designing services end-to-end.
The objective was twofold: produce a meaningful, evidence-based roadmap for the department and each business area, and build lasting capability in design thinking, innovation and service design so the team could sustain that way of working long after the workshops ended.
ACTIONS
Experience Haus designed and delivered two connected four-day programmes on site at DTCC’s New York offices, for approximately 20–25 team members across the Wealth Management product teams. Two facilitators ran the full curriculum, with the Roadmap Enablement programme split across October and November, and the Design Thinking, Innovation and Service Design programme building directly on the roadmap work that came before. The format was immersive and workshop-led, balancing mindset shifts with structured frameworks and live, hands-on practice.
- Roadmap foundations: ecosystem mapping, stakeholder alignment, strategy revisiting, and defining opportunity areas
- Prioritisation and planning: RICE and MoSCoW techniques, OKR setting, and drafting high-level and business-area roadmaps for 2026
- Communicating the roadmap: visual and narrative formats, product storytelling, pitch simulation and buy-in strategies
- Human-centred foundations: journey mapping, insight clustering, problem framing vs solution jumping, and connecting insights to OKRs
- Innovation and ideation: Doblin Ten Types of Innovation, Crazy 8s, SCAMPER, futures thinking, and concept development
- Service design and blueprinting: mapping front-stage and back-stage operations, touchpoints, data flows and dependencies into a working Service Blueprint
- Facilitation masterclass: workshop design, group dynamics, co-creation techniques, and each team designing and running a 20-minute micro-workshop
Alongside the live sessions, Experience Haus built a Product Roadmap Playbook documenting the frameworks, templates and outputs — giving the team a living reference to facilitate future sessions independently and keep roadmaps aligned with business goals well beyond the programme.
THE OUTCOME
By the end of the combined programme, the Wealth Management team had produced tangible roadmap artefacts, practised the full arc from research to service blueprint on live material, and built the confidence to run co-creation sessions with internal stakeholders and clients. The engagement left behind a shared practice, not just a set of outputs.
- A high-level product roadmap for Wealth Management, supported by detailed roadmaps for each business area
- Stronger alignment on strategy, OKRs and prioritisation across Fund Solutions, Insurance & Retirement Solutions and Private Market Solutions
- Practical fluency in journey mapping, service blueprinting and structured ideation techniques the team can apply immediately
- A Product Roadmap Playbook capturing the frameworks, templates and learning in one place for ongoing use
- Increased confidence to design and facilitate co-creation workshops with internal partners and clients
PROGRAMME PARTICIPANT
The programme gave our product teams a common toolkit for how we plan and how we design. Having the roadmap work and the design thinking sit alongside each other meant we left with real outputs and a shared way of working — not just a set of slides.
Length
8 Days (4 x 2 Day Sessions)
Key Outcomes
By pairing structured roadmap enablement with hands-on design thinking, innovation and service design practice, Experience Haus helped the DTCC Wealth Management team shift from idea-led execution toward insight-led product planning — producing tangible roadmaps at department and business-area level, and a shared design practice the team can carry into daily delivery.
