UI Design Mastery with Figma for Orange’s Design Team

Experience Haus worked with the design team at Orange in London to design, build and deliver a bespoke seven-day Figma training programme, equipping participants across both beginner and advanced levels with the practical skills and design system foundations needed to work more effectively in Figma.
THE TASK

Orange’s design team was working across products and platforms but lacked consistent, formal training in Figma as a shared tool. With designers operating at different skill levels — some newer to the platform, others looking to deepen their capabilities — the team needed a structured programme that could meet participants where they were and bring the group to a higher collective standard. The goal was to move beyond ad hoc tool usage and build a more disciplined, systems-driven approach to UI design that would hold up across cross-platform delivery and designer-to-developer handover.

ACTIONS

Experience Haus designed and delivered a seven-day in-person training programme at Orange’s Paddington offices, structured across two tracks: a four-day beginner curriculum and a seven-day advanced curriculum, with a total group of approximately ten participants. The programme was co-designed with the Orange team following a pre-engagement discovery process to baseline individual capabilities and set clear outcomes. A mix of taught sessions and hands-on practice workshops ran throughout, incorporating:

  • Foundations in UI design principles, covering colour, typography, accessibility, and grid and layout
  • Core Figma skills including auto-layout, constraints, components, and design system construction
  • Advanced Figma features including conditional logic, design tokens, variables, and interactive components
  • Prototyping, usability testing methods, and launch specification techniques
  • Designer-to-developer workflows and handover best practices

Each session built on the last, with participants applying new skills immediately to structured exercises rather than absorbing theory in isolation.

THE OUTCOME

By the end of the programme, participants had moved from varying levels of Figma proficiency to a shared, confident command of the tool across both beginner and advanced feature sets. The training left the team better equipped to work collaboratively within a consistent design system and deliver work that met the standards required for cross-platform development. Key outcomes included:

  • A shared foundation in UI design principles applied practically through Figma
  • Confidence in building and working within design systems from the ground up
  • Advanced prototyping and interactive component skills across the full team
  • Cleaner, more consistent designer-to-developer handover processes
PROGRAMME PARTICIPANT
The training met us at our different skill levels and brought us together around a common way of working. We left with practical techniques we could apply immediately and a much clearer sense of how to use Figma as a team — not just as individuals.

Key Outcomes

Through a structured, hands-on curriculum co-designed with the Orange team, participants developed confidence in Figma from first principles through to advanced prototyping, component architecture, and designer-to-developer workflows — building a shared language and toolkit across the team.
